Larry Fitzgerald restructured his deal for the 2014 season. If you didn’t look at the details you would think the Cardinals got over on Larry, but after research they both win. This situation doesn’t happen a lot for the player, where the player wins that is.
Fitzgerald was due to be a $18 million cap hit in ’14 for his $12.75 million due. With the restructure Fitz will get a $11.75 million signing bonus and $ 1 million as a base salary. With the adjustments his cap hit will only be $8.6 million this season. His cap hits will increase during the other years remaining on his current deal, but I’m pretty sure Fitz will help them as he did this year when the time comes.
Fitz had a down 2013 season by his standards, but he battled a lot of injuries, which he played through. Even with a slightly down season he made the Pro Bowl and helped the Cardinals win 10 games. I’m not high on Carson Palmer, but he has brought stability to the QB position in Arizona just looking at the improvements of Fitz from 12 to 13, also Floyd has become a threat .
This move gives the Cards more flexibility and keeps their franchise player happy.
Oh yeah, the NFC West keeps looking more dangerous by the day.
