The Denver Broncos extended John Elway’s contract three more years. Elway’s had one year left on his remaining deal. Elway who is the executive Vice President now has the title of general manager added to his duties.
After a very successful season that wielded a bad ending, Elway’s extension is good for the future of the Broncos. With originally only one year left I’m pretty sure after the 2014 season Elway would’ve been a target for teams who needed front office help.
Elway engineered bringing Peyton Manning out to the Mile high area. With Manning being on the tail end of his career having a person who can attract and evaluate talent is key. He went from Tebow/Orton to Manning at Quarterback which helps turning a team around from 8-8 his first season to 13-3 his last two seasons.
The Broncos have made the playoffs the last three season, including getting pummeled in this years Super Bowl, but the future isn’t as bleak as the beating received by the Seahawks. Every year teams make improvements, but as of now the only major threat to the Broncos in the AFC is the Bengals and that depends on Andy.
I’m pretty sure Elway will be able to make some adjustments through the draft and free agency to keep the Broncos atop the AFC next year.
