This isn’t a blockbuster trade by any means, but it gets the Nets a little younger off the bench. The Sacramento Kings and he Brooklyn Nets made a trade before the deadline today.
Trade Breakdown
Brooklyn Nets get:
G Marcus Thornton
Sacramento Kings get:
G Jason Terry
F Reggie Evans
Thornton is a proven scorer which should help the Nets, but who knows with the Nets. The Kings get a banger who is an offensive liability in Evans and Terry who is a known scorer, but very long in the tooth.
This move on the Kings end clears space for Rookie Ben McLemore to play the two guard with no competition. Which makes since because Ben is a lottery pick and he must be giving an opportunity to flourish.
Thornton is owed the rest of his $8.1 million this year and $8.6 million next year.
Evans is owed the rest of his $1.7 million this year and $1.8 million next year.
Terry is owed the rest of his $5.6 million this year and $5.9 million next year.
Hopefully Thornton can find his groove in New York, I’ve always liked his game. In the league he’s been all scoring and nothing else, maybe the Nets will be able to use his talents.
I don’t understand the pieces they received back for Thornton, but that is the Kings for you maybe they have a plan?
I know this is a minor trade, but who do you think made out better?
