Ravens running back Ray Rice went Ryu off Street Fighter II on his financè at an Atlantic City casino last week. I know hitting a woman isn’t funny, but sometimes you have to make light of situations.
They say Rice’s financè, Janay Palmer spit on the running back before being knocked unconscious. There is footage of the aftermath of the altercation. His financè is motionless in the hotel lobby and elevator. It looks pretty bad for the homie Rice.
Being spat on can trigger a wide range of emotions. I’ve never been spat on, but if I was I don’t know how I would react. With that being said, Ray has to keep his calm for various reasons. One it is his financè and two he was in public. If he were at home …. nevermind, but you get my point.
This has been Rice’s worst year as a pro on and off the field. He had a career low in yards, his lowest total since his rookie season and now this case is pending. He is in the 3rd year of a 5-year $35 million deal. The good thing about this deal is if Rice is cut from the team he will count as a lot of dead money this year and next so the running back has that going for him.
This situation is looking “Master P sneaker ugly” for the Ravens and Rice. Time will tell how this edition of “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong” ends.
