Bradley Roby from THE Ohio State University is coming off of a stellar season. Though,  Roby had success this year it really didn’t compare to his red shirt sophomore season to some. During Roby’s sophomore year he was an All-Big Ten Performer and an All-American. Roby could have bolted for the NFL Draft after the previous year, but decided to come back to Columbus to give it a try to improve his draft stock, and play for a National Championship.

This season Roby made All-Big Ten,  and some rocky moments on and off the field. The season started off with a suspension for Roby, and then that led to a lackluster first half of the season.  At times I felt that Roby was bored, but I always believed in the talent on the field. Roby received a high draft grade last season, but stayed to improve his stock.

Many believed that his stock would fall after the Wisconsin game against Jarred Abbrederis. Abbrederis finished the game with 10 receptions and over 200 yards, and that placed a dark cloud over Roby. It’s funny, because watching the game Roby didn’t give up all 10 receptions. He may have given up four or five, but when you are labeled the best corner you are guilty buy association.

From that point forward Roby seemed to regain his focus.  Despite the criticism and missing games Roby stats nearly matched his All-American season.  Roby finished the season with 69 tackles, 3 interceptions, 13 pass break ups, and 2 blocked punts.  Though, it appeared that Roby had taken a step back he was still one of Ohio State’s premiere defenders. Many draft scouts have noted that scheme of Ohio State’s defense may have hindered Roby, but that is something that can be fixed on the next level.  Scouts also have their questions about his ability, but he will answer to those critics when he gets to the next level.

Roby is already on the path of silencing his critics. After receiving criticism for his play this season, and bowing out of the Orange Bowl due to injury Roby’s bandwagon is starting to get full again.

At the NFL scouting combine, Roby ran an official 4.39 in the 40 yard dash. He also displayed fluid movement in DB drills, and showed great hands. Being a DB in today’s version of the NFL the combination of Roby’s speed and relentless style will put him in good graces when it comes to draft time. Roby has a pro day at Ohio State coming up next and it’s typical players perform better on their home turf due to familiarity. It’s funny to see how things can change after one weekend.

In early January people wrote him off as a top tier defensive back, and now they are starting appreciate what Roby can do. Roby will be facing doubters until he steps on a NFL field a produces.

This isn’t anything new for Roby he has been silencing critics  coming out of high school. The then Vanderbilt commit as a wide receiver has turned into an All-American DB at Ohio State. With the right scheme and fit Roby can be a nice player on the next level. Roby’s ability to run with the best of them, supply run support, and play making abilities he should be fine. If anyone can silence critics then it’s Bradley Roby.
