If you haven’t heard Aldon Smith of my San Francisco 49ers was arrested this past weekend at LAX. Smith apparently yelled that he had a bomb while in the airport, and you could only imagine the type of frenzy that created. Everyone knows that Aldon Smith is one of the most talented football players in the NFL. Smith has been a sack master since stepping on the football field his rookie season. Smith has totaled 42 total regular season sacks since 2011, and he has been an All-Pro and Pro Bowl performer.
People know what to expect from Smith on Sunday’s on the field, it is just uncertainty during the off-season, and during down time during the season. Smith, who will turn 25 this summer has been arrested several times and had several off the field incidents.
Since the year 2012 Smith has been in and out of the negative spotlight. Other than being arrested multiple times Smith has been stabbed, and he even entered a substance abuse treatment facility this past season.
The San Francisco Niners are a first class organization, and the proper steps should be taken to help Aldon Smith, before he goes into a full downward spiral. I know that Smith’s impact is tough to replace on the field, but his issues at this point are a lot bigger than football.
