For 16 teams the offseason begins at the end of the regular season, all other teams could come to a crashing halt just 4-7 games into their postseason appearance.
As is the case for one team in particular, The San Jose Sharks. Up 3-0 against The Kings, San Jose seemed to be in cruise control, gliding through the first round and doing what every one of their fans expected. Los Angeles wasn’t having that.
After managing to blow what was an insurmountable lead, the Sharks turned into nothing more than minnows for the opposition.Led by Elite goaltender Jonathan Quick and All-Star D-man Drew Doughty, they crawled out of the deficit and won 3 straight, culminating in a game 7 blowout where they scored 5 unanswered goals.
Big changes will no doubt happen over in San Jose, all beginning with the coaching staff, something Todd Mclellan won’t be shocked to see.
After admitting the teams horrible play begins and ends with his coaching ability, no one in the hockey world expects him to remain head coach at the start of next season, let alone until the draft.
Having a history of choking in the playoffs, stumbling when victory is in the grasps and simply just not reaching expectations Some say a complete franchise overhaul is on the horizon, something this team desperately needs. With 55 days until the draft, many questions still need to be answered. The only thing is, who will be left to answer them once the dust clears and the sun sets in San Jose.
