Marty’s Time

After learning of his mothers death this past week, Martin St Louis has, with his Rangers teammates, taken back this series and forcing a game 7.

Call it spiritual, luck, skill, whatever it is, it gave the mighty forward drive and even more motivation to boost his team, and tie that series at 3 games a piece.

Only notching one goal, a deflection at that, and no other points in game 5 and 6, you could argue St Louis had nothing to do with it. When you have a veteran, who emotionally is hurting, great teams, teams with success, they rally around that individual. That is why I consider this tragic event , a bittersweet moment.

We see it in all sports, when Brett Favre won a Monday Night Football game the day of his fathers death, when Patrick Kane scored the game winner, after learning of his Grandfathers death, it’s raw emotion, running on pure adrenaline, the athlete truly finds salvation in what passionately drives them on a daily basis. Now I’m no psychologist by any means, but the proof is in the pudding.

After dominating game 5, with a 5-1 win , the Rangers again rallied together, in a very feisty affair Sunday in game 6. Crosby speared Moore, Lundqvist did his best Shawn Thornton impression by spraying Sid with his water bottle. Both sides had aggressive hits, questionable tactics, everything a playoff series is in May.

Intensity was high, both sides were fierce, and the fire and passion put on by the Rangers in their win Sunday , could have arguably been originated from a devastating loss. Quite the horrific bittersweet moment, that no person would ever want to experience , but something every supportive genuine human being will excel in or use to their advantage, when so many people around them believe in the same thing. In this case a hope and a dream of bringing New York , and Martin St Louis joy, with a chance at a game 7 win, and series comeback Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
