Prior to game 4 Paul Pierce of the Brooklyn Nets asked for the assignment to guard LeBron James. Pierce stated that he knew James’s tendencies, and he figured that the experience of guarding James over the past few years would suit him well. Things are easier said than done when dealing with a player of James’s stature. To no surprise Paul Pierce’s wish was granted as LeBron James dropped 49 points on Pierce’s Nets.
A few years ago Pierce may have had a psychological edge over James, but those days are long gone. James scored his 49 points in an efficient manner by only hoisting up 24 shots. As a team the Miami Heat didn’t play well, but as usual James covered up everyone’s mistakes with a record breaking performance.
James was happy to leave with a win, but he knows that the Heat can’t win in that fashion to make a three peat. In a night where Dwyane Wade resembled Tony off of Blue Chips and the other members of the Heatles were missing shots No.6 had his teammates back. The Heat will look to send the Nets home in game 5. Don’t expect another 49 point game, because it won’t be needed. It would be almost certain to expect another Heat victory.
Last night was a somewhat of a Jordanesque performance, and when LBJ is in that type of zone there is pretty much nothing you can do. If you missed LBJ’s scoring spree, the highlights are below.
