Let the fat lady sing, close the curtains on this one. The Habs are moving on.
From a dominating first period, where the energy flowed for the Canadiens, to a second and third mostly controlled by Boston, they now head home to begin their conference final matchup vs The Rangers.
New addition Dale Weise, made yet another impact on the game, scoring the games first goal off a nifty pass from Daniel Briere. Noted for his high octane play, Weise played up to the expectations of everyone on his bench.
Not to be missed was the outstanding play of the Olympic Gold Medal winner, Carey Price. After being snubbed for the Vezina, Carey has shown the entire world that he is the real deal. Making some key saves at perfect times helped his team tremendously Wednesday night. Not only he did he stop the puck, but during the 2nd intermission he stood up in the dressing room and addressed his squad, basically telling them to enjoy the moment.
A hard fought seven games, two battered opponents and some nasty antics from both sides fans, something rarely missing from a Boston/Montreal series. It was everything we thought it would be. Both teams battled hard every moment , of every game. Each game was filled with grit and intensity seen only in the most gruesome of rivals, in fact, the emotions spilled out into the locker rooms and will most likely continue for years to come.
These are two stories franchises with a ton of history, both together and separate. Fans of all ages can agree that this was one for the ages. Though one side will be celebrating in the streets, another will be depressed. Fear not though Boston fans, a great team, a stud goaltender and some players that can’t be compared is nothing to hang your head about. This team will be great for years to come.
On the other hand their most hated rival will also be competing for many seasons to come. Montreal has the cup in their sight, and a fantastic team to get them there. Only 8 wins away for Habs fans and even Canada to see hockey’s holy grail make it’s way back up north.
