Two familiar faces hit the unemployment line this NBA off season. Both of these faces will always be joined at the hip for Lakers fans because one was fired and the other replaced the fired guy. Now both guys are fired it’s so cold in the f****** winter. (Cuffin’ Season reference)
Mike (Brown) and Mike (D’Antoni) not the ESPN 2 show host were canned from the Cavaliers and Lakers respectively. Mike “2xs” Brown was fired from the Cavs for the second time in three years and yes you are reading that correctly. Brown was one year into his five year $20 million deal with the Cavs before receiving the axe. I personally thought the Cavs should’ve never fired Byron Scott the year before, but Gilbert and the gang don’t hear me. It’s kind of like the girlfriend that you know is dependable, but super boring if it didn’t work the first time what makes you think the second time things would change? Yeah, Gilbert and Brown why did y’all think the remarriage was smart? Brown led a talented young team to the record of 33-49. The Cavs didn’t make the Eastern Conference playoffs which is a slap in the face. Brown was fired by the Lakers early 12-13 season, met his maker again at the end of the 13-14 season and fired by the Cavs before working with the Lakers.
Now let’s get turn the spotlight to Mike (D’Antoni) he isn’t to be spared. After two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers Mike “Pringles Man” D’Antoni resigned aka I was forced out and didn’t want to be technically fired after a subpar year in Lakerland. Personally with all the injuries and the team they had assembled it wasn’t much “Pringles Man” could do, but a lot of the brass couldn’t take D’Antoni’s unwillingness to adjust his system to fit his team. He didn’t like playing to big’s together which on a sorry team was a slight strength at times. I’ve personally never seen the Lakers be as sorry as they were this year in my entire life. We can think D’Antoni for letting Swaggy P flourish and getting us a high lottery pick in the upcoming draft. The young Buss knew Jackson would’ve been a better hire, but let pride get in the way now look at the franchise. He knows he done fu**** up now. Be strong Lakers fans they will bounce back we hope.
Now that both Mike’s are seeking employment who comes off the line first? Maybe both guys will hit the college ranks? Or will they become assistant coaches? I know one thing if either of these Mike’s are hired to become YOUR teams head coach be afraid be very afraid.
I know Cavs and Lakers fans alike can rejoice that both guys will be out of their lives.
