In recent news LeSean McCoy made claim that he is now the best running back in the NFL unseating Adrian Peterson. Both backs have been named to the NFL All-Pro team as well as countless pro bowls. Peterson has an edge on McCoy in the hardware department, due to him having a MVP trophy.
Peterson is well on his way to a first ballot Hall of Fame career, and it does not look like he is slowing down. McCoy has been a staple of success since entering the league as well. Both backs are the best players on their respective teams. McCoy has the luxury of having a quarterback in Nick Foles that can help alleviate the pressure that he could face running the ball. On the other end Peterson is a one man show, with a supporting cast that could resemble the team from The Replacements movie, and it is astronomical the way Peterson produces year after year despite defenses keying on him.
Both backs are great at what they do, but which back would you want to have on your team? Call me crazy, but I would prefer McCoy, because he is an every down back. McCoy is in the mold of a Marshall Faulk or LaDanian Tomlinson that plays all downs. McCoy’s receiving skills are underrated, and he has caught 40 or more passes in each of his seasons in the NFL.
I know Peterson is the better player, but it’s my preference to go with Shady. I’ve stated my case, so who would you want in your team’s backfield, McCoy or Peterson?
