DAYTON, OHIO -On June 7, 2014 at 5 p.m., The Gem City Slam, Dayton’s Minor League Professional Basketball Team, will host the 5th Annual Universal Basketball Association All Star Basketball Game, 3 Point Contest, and Dunk Contest at Ponitz Career Technology Center, 741 Washington Street, Dayton Ohio 45406 Twenty of the most talented Minor League players in America will converge on Dayton to perform in an exciting East meets West exhibition.
Dayton, long time host of the NCAA First Four, has had a love affair with collegiate basketball for years, and was ranked number 8 on the ESPN Top Ten Basketball Cities in America List. The Gem City Slam, just wrapping up their first successful season representing Dayton in the UBA, is proud to play host to the best basketball players the Universal Basketball Association has to offer, many former NCAA Champions. Several Gem City Slam players will represent Dayton in the All-Star Game. ”We are organizing a very entertaining and exciting exhibition for the fans that will showcase not only the talents of the UBA players but also of the Gem City Slam,” says Slam Coach, David Herzog.
The UBA league is comprised of three divisions, Eastern, Western, and Southern, with 5 teams in each division. Slam magazine ranks the UBA as the 3rd best league in North America, behind the NBA and the NBA D-League. The UBA league is expanding nationally. Their goal is to provide players with the opportunity to elevate their skills to the highest competitive level through professional growth training, and play at the next level through pro cups, tours, and international events. It has been the vehicle in which over 150 players have arrived at NBA D-League and overseas contracts.
