Things just seem to be getting worse for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Right hand pitcher Bronson Arroyo announced Monday that he will need Tommy John surgery effectively ending his season. The Diamondbacks currently have the second worst record in all of baseball (37-53) just above the Astros and this injury is coming at the point in every Major league teams bad season when they begin unloading older players (Joe Thatcher & Tony Campana to the Angels) and pitcher Brandon McCarthy to the Yanks. Even if Arroyo doesn’t have any setbacks he’s not projected to return until the second half of 2015. It probably won’t make Arizona fans feel any better knowing Bronson is in the 1st of his two year deal for 23.5 million dollars at the age of 37. Not exactly the news you want coming back from your holiday weekend I suspect.
