It may be hard to believe, but there are some quality defensive players in the Arena Football League. In a sport where the scores can mirror a basketball games point total you wonder is there any defense involved. Defensive Lineman Mike Alston of the New Orleans Voodoo is regarded as one of the best defensive players at his position and in the AFL. Alston recently finished his fourth season in the AFL, and in his fourth season he became the teams single season record holder for sacks as a member of the Voodoo. Alston was also named the AFL Defensive MVP during week 10 of the AFL Season. Good defensive players never get enough credit while playing in a league when there is a scoring frenzy. Check out the video below of Alston’s great season. It may change your perception about the way defense is played in the AFL– enjoy.
