During Sunday’s game Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Matt Cassel injured his foot and had to leave the game. Later we found out Cassel has broken bones in his foot with no set timetable for his return.
The Vikings have been in the news for the all the wrong reasons *points to the Adrian Peterson situation*, but Sunday might have a silver lining being that rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater gets his chance to get his feet wet in the NFL. Bridgewater was a first round pick for the Vikings in the 2014 NFL draft. We know the Vikings aren’t world beaters and if they did make the playoffs they wouldn’t be a major threat so why not get Bridgewater some early work. I know the plan was to let Cassel play the whole year and turn the keys over to Bridgewater in the 2015 season. That plan made perfect sense in a perfect world, but we all know the NFL ain’t perfect any play you could be out for a while *looks at Cassel* and the Vikings already knew Cassel was the stop gap quarterback.
Bridgewater played the whole 2nd half versus the New Orleans Saints and barring injury will play the next 13 games as the starting quarterback for the Vikings. One thing we know is the Teddy Bridgewater era has started in Minnesota.
