It’s time to Say Goodbye to Thursday Night Football

The theme to Thursday Night Football should be called: Another Thursday, Another Blowout. This season has been brutal for Thursday Night Football as each of the five games that have been played have been blowout contests. I understand the Commissioner wanting to cash in on TV money, but the product that is being put on the television screen is blasphemous. Last night, the Packers defeated the Vikings 42-10 and the game was competitive for all of 10 minutes. If anything I think that the NFL should implement a fan poll on who should play on Thursdays similar to NBA TV, but that’s only if Thursday Night Football sticks around.

I feel that NFL Fans deserve better, and I believe that the only Thursday Night Football should be on is Thanksgiving Day. I thought I’d never say it, but having NFL football on three days a week is a bit much. A few years ago Thursday Night Football seemed like a great idea, but with teams on a short practice week it’s really unfair for them to prepare for the opposing teams.

Last season, percentages state that the home team has won over 60% of the games, and the margin of victory this year is over 30.0 points per game. CBS and the NFL agreed on a $75 million dollar deal for Thursday Night Football, but I think it’s safe to say someone got duped out of the deal. It’s only a matter of time that the ratings will dip due to the trend of a weekly Thursday Night blowout.

I commend the NFL for stepping outside the box to try something new, but I think it’s safe to say that it’s time to say goodbye to Thursday Night Football.
