1. New York Jets (1-4)
Through the first four weeks of the season, if you asked an avid NFL fan what team looked the best, they’d probably say the Cincinnati Bengals (3-1). If you asked them what what team looked the worst, they would likely tell you the Rex Ryan led New York Jets. A head coach who could possibly be on the hot seat, A rattled Geno Smith who can’t hold on to the ball, and a wild-card Mike Vick on the bench are all pieces that could lead the Jets to taking a quarterback with their first pick in next years draft. Winning only one of their first four games also helps their case. The only winless teams so far are Jacksonville and Oakland, who drafted quarterbacks early last year.
2. Tennessee Titans (1-4)
Ken Whisenhunt started off this season off with essentially no quarterback. Jake Locker has been injury prone all throughout his short NFL career. His backup, Charlie Whitehurst has never been anything more than…a backup. This leads one to believe that Whisenhunt, known to be a quarterback whisperer, will draft his own guy after what looks to be a long season for the Titans.
3. St. Louis Rams (1-3)
Before the season, the Rams, with their fierce defense, looked like a possible NFC West contender. That was until quarterback Sam Bradford went down with a season-ending injury in the preseason. Their depth now consists of veteran journeyman Shaun Hill, sophomore Austin Davis, and rookie Garrett Gilbert (sixth round pick). Davis and Gilbert both had been cut by the Rams then signed again after Sam Bradford injuries. With that said, it would take an amazing performance from on of them to prevent Jeff Fisher and Les Snead from taking a signal-caller high in next year’s draft.
4. Miami Dolphins (2-2)
Joe Philbin seems to be on a short leash with the Dolphins, along with his quarterback Ryan Tannehill who was always thought to have been drafted way too early. The jury is still out though as they are not completely in shambles just yet. The 2013 bullying scandal, Underachievement by the quarterback, and receiver Mike Wallace (who not too long ago received a huge contract) looks to be the downfall of The Philbin era. Then opening the door for a new face for their franchise.
5. Buffalo Bills (3-2)
At the beginning of the season Doug Marrone seemed content with having EJ Manuel as his quarterback. One may question why, when his play has been less than stellar thus far. If this continues, he will be gone, along with his head coach. The teams talented defense and arsenal of offensive weapons (Sammy Watkins, CJ Spiller, Mike Williams, Robert Woods) leaves Manuel and the system as the weak link. Kyle Orton was recently given the starting job, but he will not be the long-term answer. This really doesn’t work in their favor, since they traded away their 2015 first-round pick to Cleveland in the Sammy Watkins deal.
