Can Going to China Help Resurrect Michael Beasley’s Career?

It was reported today that 25 year old Michael Beasley left the Memphis Grizzlies training camp to sign a 1 year deal with the Shanghai Sharks in the China Basketball Association. This comes months after trying to shop around for a position on other teams throughout the league. He put up ridiculous numbers in just 1 season at Kansas State before being drafted 2nd behind Derrick Rose in the 2008 NBA draft. He has been an NBA journeyman thus far in his career with two different stints in Miami, stopping in Phoenix and Minnesota. No one can argue against Beasley’s raw talent.

He is a tweener in that ¾ position in the NBA along with Lebron (who can play every position) KD, and Melo. Call me crazy but I honestly feel he is gifted enough to put up their type of numbers. That is all hearsay though, the facts are that he has a few off court issues dating back to when he attended 6 high schools. He’s had plenty of marijuana violations and has even been ridiculed for his lack of focus by notoriously “good teammates.” Hopefully Mike finds desire and focus overseas and comes back to the league ready to become what we thought he would.
