First off I want to say thanks to R&R Promotions for having me and Marcelus be apart of such a nice boxing event. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area was treated to Friday Night Fights. The event was also to highlight “Put Your Guns Down, Pick The Gloves Up” which is an associate to help the youth stay off the streets or from staying in the streets making bad choices. So, personally I salute any organization that cares about the inner city youth.
The card was filled with 13 fights, nope that isn’t a mistype and I plan on giving you a quick breakdown of each fight. Highlighted with a lot of pictures.
First fight of the evening was a late add to the card welterweights Antonio Brown and Robert Montgomery. This was an old fashion 4 round slugfest. Brown won by decision, but this fight was about about straights and hooks, I don’t think I saw a jab all fight.
Next up we Lightweights Cedric Patterson and Ronnie Jordan in a four round match. Patterson was the hidden gem for me of the night. He fought with a real calm composure, displayed a arsenal of defense and good combinations. Jordan tried to make the fight ugly, but to no avail because Patterson won an easy decision.
Cruiserweights Steve Geffrard and Mike Davis faced off. Davis was 1-21 before catching the fade in the 2nd round by TKO. After watching Davis fight I totally understood why he was 1-21(22). I wonder what his day job is?
Super Featherweights Aaron Hollis and Vic Chambers kind of had a match. Hollis KO’d Chambers in the 1st round in front of the home crowd.
Featherweights Jayvon Garnett and Rudy Payne faced off. Jayvon took Rudy out in the 2nd round displaying some nice power. Garnett looks like a nice young prospect.
Light Welterweights Russel Fiore and Michael Doyle locked horns. Fiore laid the smackdown on Doyle winning by TKO in the 1st round.
Welterweights Kareem Martin and Domonique Foster faced off in a 4 round bout. Kareem Martin out boxed Foster for 4 rounds to move to 3-0.
Light Heavyweights Donald Anderson and Richard McCombs locked horns for a 4 round bout. It only lasted 1 round and Anderson made light work of McCombs, dropping bombs on the kid like he owed him money.
Super Featherweights DeVonte Allen and Antonie Knight faced off in a 6 round matchup. Allen out classed and hit Knight with a assortment of body and head shots. Allen put Knight to bed in the 2nd round moving his record to 6-2-1.
