The NFL trading deadline was Tuesday and the disappointing Tampa Bay Buccaneers were participants. The Bucs shipped out two players before the deadline and may have shipped out more if it wasn’t for injuries. At 1-7 you had to expect something could happen nobody is safe with that record. The Bucs are in the first year under Lovie Smith so anybody who doesn’t fit his system would have to worry, if they have value.
The Bucs traded linebacker Jonathan Casillas and a 6th round pick in the 2015 NFL draft to the New England Patriots for a 5th round pick in the 2015 draft. This deal wasn’t a ground shaker, but the next one was in my opinion.
The also traded safety Mark Barron to the St. Louis Rams for a 4th and 6th round picks in the 2015 NFL draft. This trade shocked me because Barron was the 7th pick in the 2012 draft. It seems pretty early to give up on somebody the organization picked so high only a few years ago. I know coaches and general managers were fired, but I’m still shocked.
Don’t panic too much Bucs fans you guys did just lock up defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to a seven year extension worth up to $98 million with $51.5 million guaranteed. McCoy got record money for a defensive tackle, I’m not mad cash those checks Gerald.
Do you approve of the mini fire sale the Bucs had? Drop a few lines and let us know.
