Progressive Insurance is famous for its commercials that feature spokeswomen Flo. She has had quite the impact on people and it’s almost impossible to not identify her with the Progressive brand. For Halloween Progressive partnered with NBA Superstar LeBron James on a new marketing campaign. For the new marketing campaign Progressive had LeBron dressed as the character FloBron. The purpose was to have Flo be LeBron and LeBron be dressed as Flo for Halloween.
The commercial features the two of them performing a unique chalk throw. FloBron throws chalk into the air, and Flo interrupts him, by showing him how it’s done and she throws glitter instead of chalk. I get what the concept was supposed to be, but I think Progressive missed its mark. LeBron in a wig didn’t entice me to switch insurance companies. It just annoyed me that they had a 6 foot 8 guy dressed in a wig. If LBJ had on the wig to be dressed as Flo, why didn’t flow have a bald head and facial hair to be dressed as LBJ? People might say my question is dumb, but with makeup and technology it’s possible.
