The Tampa Bay Rays hired hometown native Kevin Cash as the new manager of the franchise. At 36 years old Cash becomes the youngest active manager in Major League Baseball.
Cash spent several years in the league as a player. He played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Devils, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and the Houston Astros. While playing he won two World Series Championships. One with the Boston Red Sox and one with the New York Yankees. After his retirement he spent time as a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays. Most recently, he spent two years as the bullpen coach for the Cleveland Indians. The pitching success from the Indians is a direct reflection of Cash’s ability to be a positive asset to his new organization.
