Some low key deals were done on Tuesday and we will share them with you.
Deal one
Minnesota Timberwolves receive:
G Gary Neal and 2nd round draft selection in 2019
Charlotte Hornets receive:
G Mo Williams, G Troy Daniels and cash
Deal two
Minnesota Timberwolves receive:
F Adreian Payne
Atlanta Hawks receive:
A lottery protected 1st round pick in 2017
Deal one was a move for the Hornets to get point guard help because of the serious MCL injury Kemba Walker is dealing with. Walker is believed to be out at least another 5 weeks and with the Hornets in the playoff hunt they need stability in the back court. They gave up sharpshooting guard Gary Neal, but were able to replace him with a younger version of him in Troy Daniels.
Williams is averaging 12.2 ppg and 6.4 apg currently, when Walker is healthy Mo will provide a great bench production for the Hornets.
Deal two was a move to give the Timberwolves more young pieces to go along with their youth movement. Adreian Payne was a 1st round pick in the 2014 draft. In Atlanta he was the odd man out of a crowded front court. Payne has a solid face up game and is very athletic, hopefully the Timberwolves find some playing time for him in the near future. Payne is also from my hometown (Dayton, Ohio) so I always root for his success.
I’m pretty sure more moves will be made as the deadline comes closer. I like both moves for both teams because if fits the direction they want to go.
