It seems like it was yesterday that we saw the No.23 running up and down the court, flying to the rim, and doing the impossible on the basketball court. No.23 is no longer playing on the court, but Michael Jordan still has imprint on basketball today. In lieu of Jordan’s birthday, the Jordan Brand recently celebrated it’s 30th year anniversary, and that speaks volumes to how far the Jordan Brand has become. In Jordan’s rookie season he was fined for wearing the Jordan 1’s due to the color and make of the shoe. Just thirty years later he is at the pinnacle of the sneaker world. Not bad for someone who was told it was inappropriate for him to dawn to the flashy kicks.
It’s hard to believe that Jordan is turning 52 years of age today, and I am sure in the back of everyone’s mind they would love to see him suit up on the court just one more time. Gatorade recently re-aired the famous “Be Like Mike” commercial and over twenty years later it still connects today. Whether at age 32 or 52 many basketball fans still want to be like Mike.
