A day after the world was shocked Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles shipped off star running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonzo the Bill made another move. This time they acquired a quarterback to help out a position in need, but who did they acquire? Drum roll please Matt Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings will receive two undisclosed picks from the Bills and will also send an undisclosed pick with Cassel to Buffalo.
I bet Bills fans are excited (laughs), we’ve seen this story before how many times can teams be tricked by the Cassel jig? Sort of like Ron said talking about Josh McCown early in the week, looks at the Browns. Cassel had one good year with the Patriots led them to a double digit winning season the year Tom Brady got his knee torn to shreds and then started reaping monetary benefits all over the board. The Chiefs cashed him out, that didn’t work out, the Vikings gave him a shot, that didn’t work out and now the on the rise Bills are going to entrust their team with Cassel. Does this make sense? I know almost every team is one quarterback away from being a legit contender, but Cassel isn’t the answer and will never be the answer.
I’m not mad that he keeps cashing checks, but if you are in the front office of a team you have to know he isn’t the direction you want to head.
Cassel will have weapons LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins to work with so maybe that will help. Can Rex Ryan and Greg Roman get the most out of Cassel? Only time will tell, but they better be trying to draft a quarterback in April or working hands on with E.J. Manuel if you get what I’m saying.
Cassel had a career high in yards in 2008 with 3,693 with the Patriots and a career high in touchdowns in 2010 with the Chiefs.
Welp, the jig is in Buffalo now how soon will Buffalo and its fans realize what they are in for?
