Before the NBA Finals started you thought man if the Golden State Warriors win it all who will be the MVP? First thought was man Steph Curry has a chance to be regular season and post season MVP, then you think if Curry doesn’t win it will surely go to fellow “Splash Brother” Klay Thompson, but if you have been watching the first four games in the finals it is very possible either one of them will win the award if the Warriors bring home the title.
After four games the man who should be the Warriors Finals MVP is forward Andre Iguodala. If you know me, you know I’m not a super Iguodala fan, but fan or not you can’t hate on how well he has played on both sides of the court and is the main reason the Warriors are tied at 2 with the Cavs right now.
During game 4 Coach Steve Kerr made a slight adjustment by benching Center Andrew Bogut and starting Iguodala in his place, no Iggy didn’t play center. Adding Iggy to the starting lineup gave the Warriors a faster paced team which was able to outrun and tire the shorthanded Cavs (Blatt use some of your veterans, cough). Even before the insertion to the lineup Iggy has been the Warriors best player, he’s done a great job on the current best player in the world, ( I know he’s hung a 40 piece on the Warriors, but he’s making him work) he’s scoring, doing a good job with energy and ball movement.
Iguodala is averaging 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting 57.5% from the field and 41% from three during the Finals, I know these numbers don’t knock you off your feet, but if you watched the impact he has had during each game especially the wins you would understand why I’m taking this stance.
This season may be Iggy’s worst statistical season, but when it has mattered most he has been there most important player, if Iggy keeps up the high quality play don’t be shocked if Andre Iguodala is the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, I know it sounds weird, but it’s very possible if the Warriors get two more wins.
