In the first week of NBA free agency their has been a lot of money spend by multiple teams, which was expected a lot of people have overspent when you look at the books right now, but soon as the new TV deal kicks in these contracts will seem like bargains. Just think of that last statement trips me out also, but for every DeMarre Carroll or Tristan Thompson there are a few good deals out there.
We are going to highlight the 3 best bargains so far as of July 3rd in free agency.
Monta Ellis, Indiana Pacers- The Pacers got Ellis for a four year $44 million deal with the option to opt after year three. I know Ellis is a small two guard, but is one of the better scorers in the NBA. To get a legit scorer and creator for an average of $11 million a year is a steal. Hopefully Ellis can make it to his first all-star game this year.
Aaron Afflalo, New York Knicks– After seeing Iman Shumpert four years $40 million, getting Afflalo for two years $16 million. Afflalo can opt out after the first year, but nonetheless this is a great deal. Afflalo is a good shooter and a good defender this is a real quality move for the Knicks.
Paul Pierce, Los Angeles Clippers- Pierce reunites with Doc Rivers and for a discount price. The Truth is in LA for a $10 million over three years. I know he’s on his last leg, but he proved last year he could still step up in the playoffs.
I know it’s still early in the free agency pool, but as of now these are the best bargain deals. Drop a line in the comment box.
