So if you didnt know during the 4th of July New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul had an accident with fireworks. Because of the accident JPP blew his index finger off and fractured his thumb on his right hand.
JPP was franchised tagged by the Giants this off season. That tag is worth $14.812 million, but because he hasn’t signed on the dotted line in hopes of getting a long term deal. It all seems to make sense right?
Why would you place yourself in danger knowing you are looking to land the biggest contract of your career? I know accidents happen, but it’s hard to stay trustworthy when you blowing your own hand up. In a sport where you put on your body on the line everyday you practice or play on Sunday you can’t help made the owners decision easier not to pay you the money you deserve because of an off the field mistake.
JPP was stupid, but I hope he is able to cope with the mistake and life a regular life, but it has to suck knowing all of the money he blew *no pun intended* by having the firecracker accident.
Bright side is he should be able to get most of his franchise tag deal, but unless he is able to play the same as before the injury he has lost himself a lot of coin in the future.
Next time hire somebody else to take that risk homie.
