Late last week the Indianapolis Colts opened up their checkbook for rising receiver T.Y. Hilton. Last year he took over the title of the Colts number one receiver. A slot formerly owned by Colts great Reggie Wayne.
Hilton signed a five year extension worth $65 million with $39 million guaranteed if injured and $11 million of the $39 million fully guaranteed. While on the surface this is a great deal for Hilton it doesn’t match up to the deals received by Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas. Hilton is a burner, but he’s not as physical as a Thomas or Bryant so it makes sense he didn’t get the same type of deal. Hilton is a game breaker no matter who he is facing.
During his 3rd year the 3rd round pick out of Florida International caught 82 passes for 1,345 yards and 7 touchdowns. Will the new deal slow down T.Y.? Opposing defenses sure hope so!
