Sean Kilpatrick remains the Bearcats’ second leading scorer behind the great Oscar Robertson. He also was an all-American during his senior season in 2013-14 with the Bearcats.
During his last season with the Bearcats, he averaged 20.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game at the shooting guard position. If you watched the Bearcats his senior year you knew SK was the main option and if he wasn’t going the offense wasn’t doing much.
Fast forward to last season when SK didn’t get drafted, but was signed to the Golden State Warriors (Santa Cruz Warriors) D-League team and eventually was traded to the Philadelphia (76ers Delaware 87ers) D-League team. During the end of last season, Kilpatrick got a 10 day contract to play with the Minnesota Timberwolves where he saw time in four games putting up a stat line of 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
His stints in the NBA and D-League last year were able to land him a spot with the Milwaukee Bucks D-League team where through six games Kilpatrick was able to showcase his talents in a positive way. During those six games, he averaged 18.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7% from three point land.
His strong showing landed him a two year deal for the league minimum with the New Orleans Pelicans. SK has 50k guaranteed in the deal, so he has to make sure he doesn’t slack. However, with them signing him to a two year deal, it’s a high possibility that the Pelicans want to keep SK around long term.
