Last night, the Golden State Warriors opened up the 2015-16 NBA season against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, before the game started the Warriors raised the first championship banner in 40 years for the franchise. The Warriors defeated the Pelicans 111-95. NBA Superstar Stephen Curry scored 40 points to open the season.
The Golden State Warriors won big both on and off the court. Off the court they teamed up with American Express on a multi-year sponsorship deal. This deal will give American Express exclusive rights to be the Official Card of the Golden State Warriors.
American Express becomes a member of the Gold Alliance group, a partnership comprised of key sponsors. The Warriors are working with several other well-known and respected companies like City National Bank, Ignite Farm, Kaiser Permanente, Clorox and Oracle. The Warriors and American Express will work together to deliver excitement and value for Warriors fans. In addition, American Express will also leverage their strong relationships with merchants to deliver unique experiences for Warriors fans.
Financial details on the deal have not been disclosed, but rumors report that it’s a seven figure deal. The overall popularity of the brand for the NBA Champion Gold State Warriors continues to grow and could allow for additional exclusive high caliber deals in the future.
