For a second year in a row, Overseas Elite are the champions of The Basketball Tournament taking home the $2 million grand prize. The back-to-back champions defeated Team Colorado 77-72 in a heated contest that nearly went down to the wire.
Just like in Game 7 of NBA Finals a block changed the momentum of the game. After trailing in the closing moments, Overseas seized the momentum after D.J. Kennedy had a LeBron James-like (well not quite) chase down block that breathed new life into the team.
Despite Team Colorado losing in the title game, the Buffaloes should be proud for their showing in the #TBT. For Overseas Elite, they add to their legacy in the tournament. Winning the championship will only add to the pressure of making it a three-peat for next year’s tournament. With an all-time record of 13-0 in the TBT, Overseas Elite will be expected to be at the top yet again.
Schools such as Texas A&M, Ohio State, Kentucky, Arizona, UCONN, and a host of others are rumored to construct alumni teams to enter the #TBT. While the aforementioned teams will look to dethrone the back-to-back champs in 2017, the champs can bask in dominance of the basketball tournament for another 365 days.
We would like to send our Congrats to Overseas Elite on repeating as champions. Now that the team has won over $3 million over the past two summers, I have one question.
Can I borrow $5?
