LeBron James signed a four year deal $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. While a lot of context clues pointed to the Lakers it is hard to fully believe the hype until it is actually signed, sealed and delivered.
He landed from his trip in Los Angeles, but he has a home out there. He also enrolled his son in a school in Los Angeles a few weeks back, but his son is real good at basketball that might’ve been a competition move. Paul George resigned with Oklahoma City the package deal of George and James coming together was out the door. Many believed Magic Johnson had to sign or trade for a big name before James would come to Los Angeles (I personally was one of them and I’m a Lakers fan), but I think Johnson sold James on the lifestyle and connections that comes about being a Laker and living in the city.
Signing James makes the Lakers legit in the West again, but it also shows that he believes in the young talent on the roster. Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and Jason Hart all have potential to be very good. Barring a trade I think this team will be a year away from being a real threat, but with James in the fold for four years (maybe three depending if he has an opt-out in his deal) this team has the parts if they develop right can match up well with the Golden State Warriors.
Since James signing yesterday, former foe Lance Stephenson has signed on signed, finals nemesis JaVale McGee and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope resigned on with the Lakers.
