LeBron James opened a school for “at risks” youth in his hometown of Akron, Ohio this week. It will currently service kids in the 3rd and 4th grade, but will add two grades each year until it goes from 1st to 8th.
Honestly this is one of the dopest things a superstar has done, for somebody to reach the level of success that James has and to be able to put things in place for others who had the same upbringing as him to have a better chance to be successful in life is amazing. A lot of athlete’s don’t have the reach James has, but they do positive stuff I’m not here to knock others, but it cool to see somebody do so much to help with the inner-city youth.
Rachel Nichols had a two part one on one with LeBron James check out the links.

Part 1 of my chat with LeBron: on the move from Cleveland to LA, his Lakers plans, his political comments, and how this amazing school he’s opened in Akron was shaped by his own childhood. Part 2 still to come & I’ll also be on Good Morning America on Tuesday w/some fun stuff too pic.twitter.com/ZRF2SS1CURRachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols)

Part 2 of my conversation with LeBron James: on finally sitting in the school he’s been dreaming of, why his decision to move to LA came quick, his conversations with Paul George. and why he thinks the Lakers can “do something that a lotta people don’t think we can do.” pic.twitter.com/DuTEo7iNGSMichelle Obama (@MichelleObama)

.@BarackObama and I are so proud of @KingJames and @IPROMISESchool. Kids in Akron and across the US are lucky to have you as a role model on and off the court. Keep using your platform for good and giving our kids a chance to shoot for the stars. #ReachHigher #BetterMakeRoom pic.twitter.com/DuTEo7iNGShttp://pic.twitter.com/DuTEo7iNGS
