Former St. Edwards star safety Darnell Shields who committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats and was a part of the 2018 class is walking away from football. Shields will continue to pursue his degree, but he stated that injuries have prevented him to perform and he felt it was best to hang the cleats up.
He was one of the top safeties in the state of Ohio when he committed to Cincinnati. With offers from Rutgers, Miami of Ohio, Temple, Colorado State and Toledo just to name a few Shields was a highly sought after 3 star recruit.
I’m sad to hear the freshman isn’t playing anymore, but I wish him good luck in his continued quest for education. Good luck and if you want to write about sports feel free to hit me up.
