The impact of Nike making Colin Kaepernick the face of 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign

The internet broke on Sunday afternoon when it was announced that Colin Kaepernick would be the face of the 30th “Just Do It” campaign. If you have been following Kaepernick the saga you know he hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 and he currently his waist deep in a collusion case against the NFL.

Most will say Kaepernick can’t play just because he took a knee during the National Anthem in a “PEACEFUL” protests, but if you check his final season he stats backup he should’ve still had a chance to battle for a starting position or at least be a teams backup.

Nike making him the face of the campaign was a calculated risk that will be bring even more attention to the brand. For as many people saying they won’t support Nike because of backing the former NFL player there are just as many proud of the selection and willing to purchase even more product with the swoosh on it.

Serena is proud of the Nike’s selection.

This guy cut off Nike logo’s, but he already purchased them and why didn’t he just donate that product to somebody in need?

Of course Nike knows signing Kaepernick will make them money, I understand that, but I like that he stood for something and when everything he worked for was taken from him (NFL, endorsements and exc.) he stayed strong. I’m happy that Nike has done this proves to the younger generation you can have a voice to help others move forward and situation or light might not be brought to the light immediately, but if you stay strong with the message some will get it.

Remember this isn’t about the flag, it is about the social injustices that have been happening in this country. My conversations with my kids when dealing with police are different just because of the tone of my skin. It isn’t fair, but life isn’t fair and people like Kaepernick is bringing light to that and if you don’t understand take a step back and look outside the box the message important.

#JustDoIt
