Cincinnati Bearcats midseason report card: Defense

Secondary: B+

This unit doesn’t allow 160 yards per game. They are led by senior cornerback Tyrell Gilbert who leads the team with five pass breakups. He also has 15 tackles on the season and has been a good fit after playing linebacker last season and safety the season before. Cam Jefferies has been solid also with four pass breakups, but the corner who has flashed is sophomore Coby Bryant he also has five pass breakups. This group has been very solid.

The safeties are led by athletic freaks James Wiggins and Darrick Forrest. Both of these safeties have made a lot of game altering plays and their range has been amazing. Wiggins has 22 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions and three pass breakups. Forrest has 24 tackles, an interception, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery. The crazy thing is they are both sophomores.
