The Cincinnati Bearcats traveled to Niceville, Florida to face George Mason in the Emerald Coast Classic. While most of #BearcatNation was stuck in cold weather the basketball team got to go to Florida and continue to increase their current winning streak.
The first half went well for the Bearcats as Cane Broome led the Bearcats with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor, 2-of-2 from the line and two assist. Broome was followed by Jarron Cumberland who had nine points. Tre Scott had a perfect half going 3-of-3 to finish with six points. Dominating the boards is what is pacing the Bearcats in the first half (17-10) a plus seven advantage.
The Bearcats stretched the lead in the second half and never trailed. This was the Broome show as he finished with a season high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting and 7-of-8 from the line. Rashawn Fredericks had an offensive explosion in the second half with 11 points in 11 minutes on 5-of-6 from the field and 1-of-2 from three. The last three games Broome has been balling and it was great for the Bearcats to get a boost from Fredericks who will be important for the team in the long run. Scott finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Bearcats won rebounding 33-20. turnover battle 13-16 and shot 51% from the field. Now 4-1 they will take on the winner of Baylor and Ole Miss on Saturday.
