Cincinnati Bearcats guard Jarron Cumberland earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his play during the previous week. Cumberland was the main cog in helping the Bearcats to a 3-0 record and helping them win the Emerald Coast Classic championship.

University of Cincinnati junior guard Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS) has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Cumberland averaged a team-high 21.0 points, hit seven three-pointers and made 20 of 23 free throws, helping lead Cincinnati to three wins and the Emerald Coast Classic championship last week.
Cumberland was named the tournament’s most valuable player after he scored a game-high 25 points thanks in part to a career-high 13 of 14 free throws, in Cincinnati’s 71-57 win over Ole Miss in the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 24 in Niceville, Fla. He tallied 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocks against George Mason on Friday, Nov. 23.
Earlier in the week in Cincinnati, Cumberland matched his career high with 27 points on 11 of 19 shooting, four three-pointers and six assists against Western Michigan (Nov. 19).
The junior guard has scored 20 or more points three times this season and four times in Cincinnati’s last eight games dating back to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
Cumberland is averaging a team-high 18.2 points while shooting 81.8 percent (27 of 33) from the free throw line and 40.0 percent (14 of 35) from three-point range with 15 assists and eight steals in 2018-19.
The first-team all-conference preseason selection enters the week ranked among American Athletic Conference leaders in points (fifth at 18.2), free throw percentage (sixth at .818), three-pointers made (seventh at 2.3) and three-point percentage (ninth at .400).
Cumberland was named to The American’s All-Rookie Team and was the AAC’s Co-Sixth Man of the Year in 2016-17.
