Redshirt freshman quarterback Desmond Ridder was named American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and Luke Fickell was named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Fickell has done a great job in his second season with the Bearcats leading them to a 10-2 record with a chance to win 11 if they win their upcoming bowl.
Ridder took the AAC by storm and has been a pleasant surprise for the program.

QB Desmond Ridder (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, Head Coach Luke Fickell earned American Coach of the Year honors and 10 Bearcats were tabbed for all-conference honors as the league announced its postseason awards Wednesday.
Ridder, a redshirt freshman, burst onto the scene this year, starting 11 games, completing 62.5 percent of his passes, throwing for 2,359 yards, 19 TDs and adding another 574 yards rushing along with five more scores.
Fickell, in his second year at UC, led the Bearcats to only the seventh 10-win season since 1885. He is a semifinalist for the George Munger Award and was tabbed for the watch lists for the Dodd Trophy and Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach the Year awards.
