Yesterday, the Cincinnati Enquirer fired off a click bait tweet stating, “UC Bearcats’ Mick Cronin disrespects former Xavier player Kerem Kanter”. The tweet sent Xavier and Cincinnati fans into a frenzy. Cliff notes version is you can’t plan for the unexpected Kanter hit 2 three’s on his route to 17 points and before Shootout he hadn’t hit any all season. Xavier won at Cintas Center 89-76 in a game where both programs were ranked in the Top 25. Kanter’s response is embedded in the tweet from what Cronin said.
1. Put some respect on my name
2. Clearly you didn’t do your job of scouting
3. You got #ZippedUp @CoachCroninUC
Keep it Classy Mick, you are better than that #LetsGoX https://t.co/HRCK3aBcyI— Kerem Kanter (@KeremKanter) December 7, 2018
Everybody knew Trevon Bluiett and J.P. Macura were the one and two options even after those two Quentin Goodin would be more on the radar than Kanter so I totally understand the statement by Cronin. He had a solid season last year for Xavier, I could see Kanter felling slighted some because he called him “Enes Kanter’s brother”, but on the fly it is what it is.
Check out the headline that got the buzz started.

Kanter can’t help X this year, but it is up to Cronin and crew to defend home court on Saturday. Buckle up #BearcatNation, it is #BeatX time.
