The Cincinnati Reds added another key piece to their starting rotation today acquiring Sonny Gray from the New York Yankees.
The Reds traded prospect IF Shed Long and a 2019 Competitive Balance Round A pick for Gray and minor leaguer left handed Reiver Sanmartin.
Gray signed a three year extension with a fourth year club option. He will get 7.5 million for 2019, but will an average of 10.17 million for his extension. He has a club option for 12 million in 2023.
Gray started 30 games with a 11-9 record and a 4.90 ERA.
