In 2016 Zac Taylor was hired by Tommy Tuberville to become the Cincinnati Bearcats offensive coordinator. If you have been following the program you know it didn’t go well as the Bearcats finished the season 4-8 and Tuberville was fired after the season ended.
We have been hearing the rumors that Zac Taylor will be the Cincinnati Bengals new head coach soon as the Los Angeles Rams season is over. The problem for the Bengals is that the Rams have made the Super Bowl so they can’t announce that Taylor is their guy until Monday at the earliest. I know some fans will hold his short tenure with the Bearcats against him, but all in all he is a sole reason the program has star quarterback Desmond Ridder who was handpicked by Taylor. He also jumped on a sinking ship after being a part of the Miami Dolphins staff that got blown up the season before. One constant is every time he talks about Cincinnati he has nothing bad to say about the city in he loved his time around time. From his time here, Taylor was always pleasant in my dealings with him.
For those on the fence about him being the next head coach of the Bengals, you have to respect the work he has done with Jared Goff turning him into a top tier quarterback. Sean McVay will get most of the credit, but Taylor has been their every step of the way for Goff also. Maybe he can bring that magic to Cincinnati? Maybe he needs another quarterback, but that is for another article.
Check out footage Brandon Saho posted from Channel (WLWT) 5’s interview with Taylor.
Zac Taylor can't talk about the #Bengals job… but this is what he had to say about loving Cincinnati and why his time at UC played such a big part in his coaching career. @WLWT pic.twitter.com/9prBdXcaJA
