The Cincinnati Bearcats reeled in one of the best lineman in the state on Wednesday. Dunbar High School offensive lineman committed and adds a top tier local recruit to the mix.
Fickell and the crew have been doing a great job getting local talent and this is one of the great signing day moves.

The University of Cincinnati football team added offensive lineman Jonathan Allen (Dayton, Ohio/Dunbar) to its signing class, Head Coach Luke Fickell announced on National Signing Day. UC Football signing day is presented by Nissan.
The Bearcats previously added 14 members to its roster during the NCAA early signing period on Dec. 2018. Nine of UC’s 15 signees are from the state of Ohio.
Allen is a 6-6, 310-pound offensive lineman from Dunbar HS in Dayton, Ohio. He was ranked as one of the Top-35 players in the state and twice earned All-Southwest District honors from the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. The four-sport athlete also plays basketball and baseball and took part in track.
“In December, we talked about being flexible with our remaining spots and focusing on our relationships in the 50- and 300-mile radius around campus and we did that,” Fickell said. “We were able to add a big offensive lineman in Jonathan Allen from that radius. He’s a dynamic athlete who only played a couple of seasons, so his best football is ahead of him which is exciting for us. We are looking forward to getting this entire class here later this year to start developing and competing with our returning players.”
Cincinnati finished the season with 11 or more wins for the third time in program history (2008, 2009) and knocked off Virginia Tech in the 2018 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman. Looking ahead at 2019, UC is set to return over 85% of its roster, over 5,000 yards of total offense, 10 of its Top-15 tacklers and 14 starters from the 2018 squad.
