So after another super impressive performance Julian Edelman had social media gushing all over him. Rightfully so, the college quarterback now turned star wide receiver had just won MVP of Super Bowl LIII with his 10 catch for 141 yards performance. Patriots fan or not you had to give the man his props he balled out and has been known to make the big play when the Patriots need him.
As the MVP of this year’s Super Bowl, Patriots’ WR Julian Edelman is playing himself into a spot in Canton in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

I went whoa whoa player you got too much dip on ya chip with that statement. EDELMAN (Soulja Boy voice), is a baller, but nowhere near a hall of fame player, to switch sports is Robert Horry a hall of fame basketball player? No, and he is the equivalent of Edelman in the NBA world. The receiver possesses great hands, precise routes and exceptional quickness in and out of breaks.
Edelman’s career stats:
499 receptions, 5,390 yards, 10.8 yards per catch and 30 touchdowns in nine regular seasons
115 receptions, 1,412 yards, 12.3 yards per catch and 5 touchdowns in 18 playoff games (8 years)
Is there any receiver that reminds you of Edelman both stats and style of play wise? I know people will say Wes Welker and Welker did have better stats, but Edelman does come up in the big moment better than Welker yet if you look at the final stats Welker will have a better shot when it is all said and done. Under door number two is Deion Branch check out his career stats and it is very similar to Edelman’s.
Branch’s career stats:
518 receptions, 6,644 yards, 12.8 yards per catch and 39 touchdowns in 11 regular seasons
64 receptions, 948 yards, 14.8 yards per catch and 4 touchdowns in 17 playoff games (8 years)
Branch won MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX with a performance of 11 catches for 133 yards. Both receivers have won Super Bowl MVP’s while playing with Tom Brady, both currently have similar numbers. Branch didn’t get to play his entire career with the Patriots with multiple years with the Seattle Seahawks sprinkled in. They are similar in size with Branch being the more big play threat, but Edelman barring a crazy injury will finish his career with better numbers.
Branch and Edelman were and are ballers, but not Hall of Famer material and that isn’t a diss, it is reality. Since we want to make bold statements let’s just say Edelman is Branch 2.0 with less speed and more receiver friendly rules?
