Note: First off I want to say sorry for the delay, my son’s baseball tournament took me away from the tv.
The Cincinnati Bearcats faced the Wichita State Shockers in the AAC Tournament Semifinals and it marked the third time these teams have faced this season with the Bearcats winning the previous two.
This game was a grinder, but the Bearcats got contributions from multiple players. Jarron Cumberland, Trevon Scott and Nysier Brooks all had double digits scoring. Brooks led the way with 13 points, 9 rebounds and a block before fouling out. Scott had another solid game with 12 points, eight rebounds, a block and a steal. Cumberland didn’t have as great of a game shooting 3-of-16 from the field, but scoring 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Cane Broome made a huge layup to give the Bearcats a 65-63 lead late in the game and the senior finished with eight points.
The Bearcats won the rebound battle 42-33 and held the Shockers 35.8% from the field and 32% from three.
The Bearcats are now 27-6 and will face Houston at 3:15 on Sunday for the AAC Tournament Championship. Can the Bearcats win the trilogy?
