Cronin is doing a h*** of a job getting young men to graduate, he’s winning a lot of games and he’s making tweaks to his offense, but is it enough? You can’t fire a guy that has went 89-18 overall the last years (most wins in a three-year time span) and helped the program transition from the Big East to the American Athletic Conference, but you can ask questions. Can he allow his team to play faster more consistently because it will allow his team to get easier shots and that helps when teams figure out the defense? Can he make adjustments on the defensive side of the ball when teams shoot them out of the 1-3-1 zone? These are fair questions!
Winning at Cincinnati will never come the way of a North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Michigan State or Kentucky besides of the conference alignment won’t allow it, it’s easier when you have legit Power 5 resources coming in every year. With conference income being fair, but not in the top-tier it is easy to peak over at Villanova and Gonzaga to want similar March success. Jay Wright and Mark Few don’t have perfect March resumes, but they have done enough where the fan base has to respect the outcome good or bad, can Cronin get to that point? Because right now he’s not there and has he plateaued with this program?
