Yesterday, Cincinnati Bearcats junior guard Jarron Cumberland was named AP Honorable Mention All-America. Cumberland was the key cog in the machine that made the Bearcats go. He earned multiple awards from the American Athletic Conference.

University of Cincinnati guard Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington High School) has been named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
The distinction caps off a noteworthy junior season for Cumberland who previously was named the 2019 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, American Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player, a unanimous first team all-conference selection, a USBWA All-District 5 selection, a Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year award semifinalist and watch list honoree for both the Citizen Naismith Trophy award and the Lute Olsen Player of the Year award.
Cumberland averaged 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals during the 2018-19 season that saw the Bearcats post a 28-7 overall record, finish second in the AAC at 14-4, win the AAC Tournament for the second straight year and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive season.

Cumberland finished the season ranked among AAC leaders in points (third at 18.8), three-point field goal percentage (seventh at .388), three-pointers made (eighth at 2.3), free throw percentage (10th at .773), assists (11th at 3.6), assist-to-turnover ratio (13th at 1.3), minutes played (14th at 32.5) and steals (15th at 1.1).
// CUMBERLAND’S 2018-19 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
· Named AAC Player of the Year.
· Earned AAC Tournament MOP honors, averaging 23.3 points, 6.0 rebound and 4.3 assists in three games, including an AAC Tournament championship game record 33 points on 11-of-24 shooting against then-No. 11 Houston.
· Scored 657 points, the 10th most points in a season in school history and the most since Sean Kilpatrick tallied 701 points as a senior in 2013-14.
· Finished the season ranked 20th on UC’s all-time scoring list with 1,363 career points.
· Hit 80 three-pointers in 2018-19, ranking sixth most for a season in UC history.
· Scored a career-high 34 points against USF on Jan. 15.
· Scored 20 or more points 17 times.
· Led the Bearcats in scoring in 22 games.
· Has helped lead Cincinnati to an 88-18 record in games played during his career as a Bearcat.
