Although Zoom’s spectacular play have caught the most attention from the fans, his work would not be possible without the help from the rest of the team.
Aside from Zoom, Imp had been the other player that has inflicted the most damage to enemy champions thanks to his spectacular use of Kai’sa, Vayne, Varus, and Ashe.
JD Gaming’s berth to the Grand Finals of the LPL Spring Split has been nothing short of remarkable. Few, if any, could have predicted their current standing at the start of the season, and yet, here they are.
Not even the players themselves believed their massive achievement after pulling off the fact. Flawless, after officially defeating FPX to advance to the finals, stayed in his seat to reflect on what he just did. And it was within that brief period of recollection that he subsequently broke down to tears while covering his face with his left hand.
But despite the unexpected animosity surrounding JDG’s emergence, there was someone within the professional pool that gave them a chance of making the Grand Finals. G2’s Caps was reported to have talked with one of his teammates about having a dream one night where he met JDG’s YaGao in this year’s MSI. Upon the public’s reaction to Caps’ premonition, there was a ceaseless amount of joking jabs that went his way, thus indirectly giving their thoughts about how they feel about JDG’s chances in the playoffs. Fast forward to now though, and all tables had all but turned.
Now it’s JDG who are laughing beside themselves over their misjudging naysayers. Now they’re in the sought-after limelight. Now they’re on the brink of making history by capturing their first ever league championship in their near infant history.
But one must not get complacent when they’ve gone this far in a prestigious tournament. Their final opponent in the finals is none other than Invictus Gaming, the defending World Champions. Either way, they’re not intimidated by the task ahead.
After the semifinal series, Flawless was asked about their past challenges in the playoffs and how that compared to the Grand Final.
“According to our experience in scrims, [IG] is a really strong team,” the South Korean jungler said. “If we want to beat them, we need to be more prepared.”
After all, they had to vanquish the region’s two other giants to even reach the LPL Finals. What makes anyone think their affair with IG will be any different? Whatever the case, when all is said and done, JDG can be proud of their run. But wouldn’t it be great if they just went a little bit further?
